From my point of view the grid usage tip actually is quite effective ! It actually makes adding pins an easy taskI went back to the help (Getting_Started_in_KiCad.pdf) english version, section 7 - Make component footprint and this tip is not written (there is a generic reference to use the right grid)
For a newcomer, it is not immediate to think that rebasing and adjusting the grid is a good way to make life easier while adding pads.
I suppose all of you are in favour of adding a TIP in section 7 , bullet point 6 that basically describes what Jean and others have actually said
It is a tiny documentation change, I may do it, but maybe there is someone in charge of it ?
