Thanks Cirilo, the links provided need "lists.launchpad.net" to be added
for obvious reasons...

Regarding automation, Python scripting might be a good way to do it. I
think there are methods to manipulate components on board already and
OpenCV has Python interface.

Clive listed a set of additional features to make working with
schematics easier and these may be something to do with the current PNS
router. With the addition of PNS router, the whole task of manual
re-routing got way easier already.
