"Yes" answers both questions. Remember that boost supplied with the
system does not contain KiCad specific patches, but I never had any
problems. On the other hand, I spend more time coding than designing PCBs.
I used gcc 4.8.2 for a long time and everything was fine too. The
issue looks really strange to me.
