Thanks for the suggestion.  I used fedup to upgrade from 19 to 21 this
morning.  I still have the same rendering problem with version 5041. 

Should I try switching from Normal View to OpenGL as Lorenzo
suggested?  How do I do this?

This will be my project for the afternoon.  I'll install the
mangelajo build and let you know what happened.

The default STABLE build and the default Fedora21 bits don't seem
to work properly on my laptop.
