Some Wish:
It should be configurable with cmake prompt (-DUSER_PLUGINS_SUBPATH) as default
and additionally, the user should be allowed to manually set a different path -
KiCAD has already some configuration files ?
Some Linux distributions allow for maintain order in the home user directory. A
herd of dot-starting-directories/files is the usual mess (and hard to find sth
troubles) of the most frequently browsed by the user directory.
