Ideas on higher-visibility indication of (un)connected pins?

Anyone have any thoughts on this? https://bugs.launchpad.net/kicad/+bug/1458083

I'm rather liking the idea of making it a bit clearer to a casual observer whether or not a pin has been properly connected; wouldn't mind implementing something like that. So, how would you prefer to see it?
