Hi folks,

Are the version strings for 4.x.x going to be in the source somewhere, or
will it be based on a tag in source control?

For instance, if I grab some code from the stable tree in 6 months from
now, how do I tell if the code corresponds to 4.0.1 or 4.0.2 or what?  Is
this still up in the air?
