Hi, Berhard.
Yes this is a bit if a pain on OS X. I built this from HEAD sometime last year, and it seemed to work okay for my purposes. I had to munge a few things to get it to build, though. I’ll send you a patch off-list and see if that gets you going in the right direction.
It was some time ago that I looked at this so I don’t exactly remember why I changed what I changed, but it should be fairly evident, I think.
