Turning layers on or off in pcbnew, is very slow even on a small board, is any one seeing this ?

Turning layers on or off is very slow even on a small board,   big board,
take's 15 seconds !
Any one seeing this ?

Build 6547   Open GL or standard display mode,  Debian 8.3 64bit AMD,
GeForce GTX 650 Ti

By compassion, Eagle 6.5,  same board, same hardware, is instant.
