What you want is not very different from now.
As Wayne said, it will be not so hard to edit a power symbol name in the new Eeschema.

About shapes: an arrow and 2 gnd symbol shapes is not enough.
3 or 4 shapes only is a serious regression.
A lot of shapes is what we have now.
