Currently our UI policy says to follow the GNOME user interface
guidelines.

...has anybody read the GNOME HIG lately? It's really different from
anything we have now, and generally pretty controversial. I don't think
it's what it was back when we decided to use it. Unless we really want
to start making everything like [1]...does anyone think maybe we should
look for a new set of interface guidelines?
