Re: UI improvements

 

I think doing something just because everyone else is can be a very good
thing sometimes. When you borrow someone else's car, you don't
accidentally drive through a storefront because they swapped the
accelerator and brake pedal. When people want to communicate on this
mailing list, they speak English even if it's not their first language,
because that's the language everyone else here is using and they will
thus be understood. The same applies for engineering terms: if all
non-KiCad EDA software calls something a "footprint", us calling it a
"module" serves absolutely no purpose other than to confuse. The same
goes for symbol vs component.

Somehow I managed to remain blissfully unaware that most other software
calls them components - symbol seemed more natural to me - but if that
is what they're doing, so be it.
