Concerning the brackets, the 'Bureau International des Poids et Mesures' states that units should be separated by a forward slash:
http://www.bipm.org/en/publications/si-brochure/section5-3.htmlSo for the orientation that would be 'Orientation/degree'. OTOH I've seen many publications where this is only used on inline text and the unit for graph labels are written using square or rounded brackets.
My guess is that for the average user a forward slash or brackets make no difference as long as he/she can identify the unit.
To be safe, you could omit the unit in the headline and add it to the four orientations: 0°, +90°, 180°, -90°
And, to be consequent in nit-picking, the orientations should be 0°, 90°, 180° and 270°.
