Hi Wayne, since you mentioned a system 76 laptop (that probably means a
Clevo laptop) I proudly have a Clevo laptop (purchased from the European
seller Schenker PC https://www.mysn.de/ a couple of years ago) and I am
really happy with it.
I have chosen an Intel only laptop because more than one told me that
Intel drivers are the best under Linux (better than Nvidia and ATI)
even though not that powerful (but really more than enough for a KiCad
workstation and even some Steam gaming...).
My experience confirmed this: not a problem with the video until now
and KiCad works flawlessly even with 3D rendering in OpenGL.
I have a Intel i5-6200U CPU with a Intel® HD Graphics 520, FHD IPS
screen (I love it!) and backlight keyboard, 16G RAM and added a 1TB
Samsung solid state HD, purchased apart from Amazon.
All this for a bit more than 1K euros... the construction is a bit
"plastic" but I think you cannot buy something cheaper with these
characteristics...
Hope you this helps you decide...
Regards,

I know a joke about UDP, but you might not get it.
