I don't know if wx 3.1 supports vector image formats in controls on not.
 Unfortunately, the 3.0 branch does not so we are stuck with raster
images for the foreseeable future.  When a version of wx is widely
available that supports vector graphics in controls, I will be more than
happy to dump the bitmaps.
