Imagine you commit something with the text “Work around stupid assert in XYZ”.

Git will format-patch this as “0001-Work-around-stupid-assert-in-XYZ.patch”.

Imagine that you now email it to Seth.

The filename, being too long, gets elipsized:

“0001-Work-around-stupid-ass…YZ.patch”

Gave me a laugh, anyway.
