I think the problem is someone has to actually step up and mentor a
student. You aren't allowed to just give them a topic and disappear ;)

help with the development of KiCad 6.
I would suggest to advertise topics which are mostly standalone and
sound interesting/challenging, and where people currently not working
on, like: diff/merge tools, improved digital/analog simulation, signal
integrity, auto-router, improved push-shove,...
