Re: Kubuntu-Users ML

I read the discourse occasionally, but really Do Not Like how so much
quoted material is in old threads. At least in ML, gmail hides quoted text
behind ... so I can read it if necessary. As I said, spoiled by Groups.io
which I use for genealogy and etc. I used to try to keep up on Reddit etc.
too but... there is just too much to follow.

We need admin who actually read the ML; once a fight gets started it's
important to jump on it and put out the fire before it spreads.

Of course it is annoying when people post bug reports in MLs (or IRC) but
this is our chance to educate our users and turn them into skillful
testers! It is how I started, my son reminded me this past weekend.

When I complained about something to him, he asked if I had reported this
to the developers, which was a completely new concept to me 20+ years ago!
It is a joy to see users who used to be the complainers explaining to other
users how to file bug reports; this is work worth doing.

Although I find the MM admin tools really clunky, I still like the
immediacy of email and will continue to monitor both the -devel and -user
MLs. I hope others are doing that work in Discourse, Reddit, Facebook? and
etc.
