Ok.

I'm hoping to get plasma 5.10.1 into out 'backports-landing' ppa before
by the end of today.

If you feel willing enough to test updates before they are pushed to the
main backports ppa, then I can let you know when they arrive there.
verification that your issue is fixed with that would be good.

Or you can wait. Hopefully should not be more than a day or 2, as these
are bugfix updates after all.
