[Bug 320100] [NEW] Important difference in explanation of Bug statuses between Ubuntu Wiki and Launchpad Help
You have been subscribed to a public bug:
While I was trying to learn what each bug status name meant on
launchpad, I used the following url:
https://help.launchpad.net/Bugs/Statuses
which defined "Confirmed" as:
"Confirmed: a member of the community believes that this report
describes a genuine bug in enough detail that a developer could start
work on a fix."
>From that description, I assumed that I could be considered a "member of
the community" and marked a bug I submitted as confirmed. Later, I
encountered this page on the Ubuntu Wiki:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Status
which describes "Confirmed" as:
"Confirmed bugs require confirmation from someone other than the
original reporter"
which leads me to believe that I should not mark my own bugs as
confirmed.
I think that the Ubuntu Wiki description is more clear and that
help.launchpad.net should change its description along the following
lines:
"Confirmed: a member of the community other than the person who reported
the bug believes that this report describes a genuine bug in enough
detail that a developer could start work on a fix."
** Affects: launchpad-documentation
Importance: Undecided
