-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi list, I'm not sure if this issue has been raised already... I find it extremely difficult to figure out against which package version, architecture and distribution release a particular bug has been filed, as most users omit this vital information when they report bugs via the LP webinterface... Since apport fills in this information like this automatically: - ------------------------------ ProblemType: Crash Architecture: i386 Date: Thu Apr 5 16:53:49 2007 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 7.04 ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/qt-language-selector InterpreterPath: /rofs/usr/bin/python2.5 Package: language-selector-qt 0.2.5 PackageArchitecture: all ProcCmdline: /usr/bin/python /usr/bin/qt-language-selector --mode install ProcCwd: /home/ubuntu ProcEnviron: PATH=/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games LANG=da_DK.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash PythonArgs: ['/usr/bin/qt-language-selector', '--mode', 'install'] SourcePackage: language-selector Uname: Linux ubuntu 2.6.20-12-generic #2 SMP Wed Mar 21 20:55:46 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux - -------------------------------- I'd like to suggest: 1. to add mandatory fields on the bug report form for * Architecture (drop down) * DistroRelease (drop down) * Package Version (need to fill in manually) 2. to collect the bug reporting time and add it to the bug report automatically 3. to add additional columns for Architecture, DistroRelease and Package Version in the bug overview screen. For hardy I suggest developing a better GUI to put on the desktop and let users comfortably report bugs. The current apport-gtk package seems only to become active when a crash occurs.
