[Bug 1459079] Re: Background image fails to load on lightdm-gtk-greeter

On further recollection (when changing my lightdm-gtk-greeter.conf
file), I remembered I set the active-monitor param as a long-shot based
on bug 1426664, which did nothing.

Reporting back on #2 and #3 of Andrew's queries.

#2. When I switch VT's and then back, the background shows
#3. When disabling the image and setting a colour, it works as expected on initial boot. As a side note, I have never seen a RED so eyeball burning on such a large surface area.

One other thing has just clicked in my head. I half-expected an xubuntu
splash screen to show on system boot (like on shutdown), but I don't see
that. Instead I have a black screen on load, a 'flicker' which shows
multi-coloured lines, and then the greeter sans-background (now with
more RED).

Title:
Background image fails to load on lightdm-gtk-greeter

Status in lightdm-gtk-greeter package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
After my system boots, the lightdm-gtk-greeter fails to load the
wallpaper, instead leaving a 'white' screen. ALL other aspects load
(icons, indicators, clock, login box) show, but the background does
  not.

After logging in, the lightdm-gtk-greeter wallpaper then is displayed
and then replaced with my own personal wallpaper.

When I log out of my system, lightdm-gtk-greeter shows the default
wallpaper and everything is as it should be until I reboot and once
  again find the 'white' background.

  Additionally, I am using a Lenovo ThinkPad W510 (4319-2PU) with a
built-in Nvidia Quadro FX 880M, but using the stock nouveau driver
  provided.

I've also installed (and since removed) the daily build of lightdm-
gtk-greeter in the hopes that the newer build would have corrected
this behaviour. It did not, and I downgraded back to 2.0.0-0ubuntu1.
