Package lightdm-gtk-greeter-setting seemed not to be available from the
selection menu though.

However, current sate is TRIAGED (wishlist) for package lubuntu-artwork
(Ubuntu), which seems appropriate.

Bug description:
  Hi,

  not a real bug, just ugly:

  lightdm-gtk-greeter shows a user icon at the login screen near to the
  name selection, and a default person-logo if none is set for the user.

  That default logo is low-resolution, very pixelated, and thus really
  ugly.
