Process diagrams
Hello!
in order to help me comprehend the new process, and to enable me to
convey it in a fast way I went ahead and drew some process diagrams.
They are stored in
https://docs.google.com/a/linaro.org/?pli=1#folders/0B2TRRvye9pnjMGZhOTA0NzktNmIzMy00YmUyLWFiYzMtMmIxYmUxMjY0MzU5,
a collection of files which I have now shared with you.
There are two sets of files in there: GRAPHML are the original drawings,
using BPMN notation and created in yEd. SVGs are probably most
convenient for you to look at first. The files with "-simple" in the
name are simplified versions where I tried to remove some of the
elements and process artefacts in order to make the process steps more
visible. I based the diagrams on the wonderful description of each
process as done by James Westby, but admittedly any mistakes in the
diagrams are my own.
I do not claim these to be complete. There are gaping holes in the
diagrams - eg the infrastructure/platform-integration parts are missing.
But rather than trying to finish them in a cathedral manner, maybe they
can be improved incrementally - with your feedback.
I will take the "-simple" diagrams and provide even simpler versions,
taking horizontal slices and showing the process steps eg for the
development teams only. That could help TLs when discussing the process
with engineers.
Also note: I clearly do not handle questions about the tools in these
diagrams. IMHO tools should support a clearly defined set of processes
which we should agree upon. I do not aim to demean the tools importance,
rather wanted to focus first on understanding and agreeing on the process.
Anyway, let me know if you have feedback or questions.
Best,
