Could you tell me if a file is working with melt and ffplay ? 
Have you something when you run openshot in a console and work with ? 
It is perhaps not your fault. But we 'll done all for knowing the reason and reaper that quickly.
A package could be broken, missing,.....a lot of things.

  openshot is very unstable unusable because crash itself, use 100% of cpus or crash gnome-shell everything randomly.....no output useful information from the program
  lastly gui lacks of item. for showing their i should resize the window.... here no useful output too

  Additional info:

  * x86_64 archlinux system with gnome 3
  * openshot 1.3.1-2

  
  Steps to reproduce:

  these happen randomly
  my last problem happen when i'm right-clicking over slides or timeline
