Scribus has a "collect files" menu item which does something similar: It
copies all the media files used in a project in a central directory,
just where the project file lives.

This is something that OpenShot should support, too. Ideal for backups.

  It consists in exporting the entire project, including all the media in the "project files" section into a single compressed file.
  This could be very useful for transfering a project to another computer, backups, etc.
