Thanks for suggesting this fix, but it cause too much delay for larger
projects.  This type of improvement will be possible using our new
editing library, coming soon.  So, I'm going to mark this as "Won't Fix"
for now.  Thanks.

Status in OpenShot Video Editor:
  Won't Fix

Bug description:
  It becomes difficult to quickly preview a transition or an effect and
  decide if it's the right one to use if you have to pause and start the
  video again to see how it looks with it applied (if you are already
  previewing the video)
