I don't know why you say that. I'm not on a ubuntu box right now, so I'm relying
on packages.ubuntu com [0] here, but it says: 

Package: kdenlive (0.8.2.1-1ubuntu1) [universe]

Could you check what the output of `apt-cache policy kdenlive` says?
