I have looked into this issue further and have found that all the
buttons are in the main file but they are not configured correctly in
the conf file and every time I try to add to the conf file it throws up
an error. So now my question is "has the mythbuntu crew changed the way
you add to a conf file?".

I would really like to get this matter taken care of so I can fully
evaluative Myhtbuntu fully with cheaper hardware first before building a
more pricier set up. I think that is where a lot of people go wrong they
go and throw $$$$ into  a new hardware with out looking at the software
with older "but still good" system first. So could someone here give me
a hand with my problem?

  The lirc file for the packardbell remote sets only the simple controls
  for mythbuntu 12.04.1 I would like to see what has to be done to use
  all the buttons on this remote?
