Title:
Lower clip flashes at the end of a transition to the upper clip
Status in OpenShot Video Editor:
Expired
Bug description:
Put a still picture clip1 at time 0 seconds on track 1; set it to run 5 seconds.
Put a still picture clip2 at time 3 seconds on track 2; set it to run 5 seconds.
Put a 2-second Dissolve transition between then, starting at 3 seconds on the time line.
When played, clip 2 starts to appear at second 3, is fully visible at
5 seconds, but then jumps unpleasantly and then continues.
Close analysis by moving the time cursor with the arrow keys shows
that clip1 -- the lower, weaker clip -- flashes back on the screen for
one frame at second 5.
I have done this a number of times, and the problem is fully
replicable.
I have also found -- I think -- a work-around. Immediately after
dropping the transition, change its length to 1.5 seconds and starting
time on the timeline to 3 seconds, so that it is over well before the
end of clip 1. But clip 1 is covered by clip 2. Clip 1 did not now
flash at second 5.
This work-around must be applied immediately on adding the transition.
Once I had a misbehaving clip1, setting the transition to end before
the end of the clip did not fix the problem. Even removing the
transition and inserting the shorter one did not work. I had to
completely remove the clip 1 from the timeline, then drag it back, and
then set the transition to end short of the end.
I originally submitted this bug as a question, and several other users
commented that they are having the same problem. It is definitely a
bug, not just my blunder.
My OS is Ubuntu 10.04 LTS -- Lucid Lynx, the last LTS before the Unity
disaster. I installed Ubuntu from a CD years ago and have upgraded
via the Internet. The OpenShot version is 1.4.3. I don't know what
"melt" is.
