Message #08593
[Bug 1177532] Re: inaccurate info on raring ubuntu manual #284
Maybe i did not describe it well enough, or possibly i am missing something.
Leaving the 'Home' ;ens reference aside, the following sentence:
"The \lens{Applications} lens will also assist in finding files or folders \dash showing you the most recently accessed files as well as the most recent downloads. You can use the \emph{filter results} button in the top-right corner of the Dash to filter results by attributes such as file or folder modification times, file type (.odt, .pdf, .doc, .txt, etc.), or size."
Would be absolutely correct if it was referring to the \lens{Files and Folders}. In that case, we can access files and downloads, and also filter by file types (odt, .pdf, .doc, .txt, etc).
But opening the dash in the \lens{Applications} lens, we can access
Applications that were recently used, installed applications, available
applications and filter by application type.
Should we change the lens name from 'Applications' to 'files and
Folders' or change what it can access to 'Applications that were
recently used, installed applications, available applications and filter
by application type'?
Thanks for the quick reply.

Title:
inaccurate info on raring ubuntu manual #284
Status in Ubuntu Manual:
New
Bug description:
While translating ubuntu-manual package for ubuntu-raring, i came
across the following description on message #284:
"The Dash can help you find names of files or folders. Simply type a
portion of the file or folder name. As you type, results will appear
in the Dash. The \lens{Applications} lens will also assist in finding
files or folders \dash showing you the most recently accessed files as
well as the most recent downloads. You can use the \emph{filter
results} button in the top-right corner of the Dash to filter results
by attributes such as file or folder modification times, file type
(.odt, .pdf, .doc, .txt, etc.), or size."
As far as i know being a Unity user, the Applications lens assists in
finding applications and not files/folders, so the message should
either refer to the 'files and folders' lens, or describe assistance
in finding applications.
Could this be cleared up please?
