just to clarify - what do you mean by "improperly renamed" exactly - can
you (someone) please point me to the instructions for *properly*
renaming your backend?

as I said, there were no settings in either the Frontend or Backend
setups to change - I manually went into the mysql database and renamed
the records myself, because somehow the system didn't do this years ago

once again, the renaming happened at least a year ago and this did not
affect me on 0.25 for an entire year - with those mysql records clearly
unchanged the whole time

it was only when I upgraded to 0.27 - most likely when it made me
"upgrade" the database schema - that this bug reared its ugly head

I'm willing to accept I didn't not "properly" rename my backend since I
still have no idea what that means, exactly, but I think it is important
to note that renaming my backend - properly or otherwise - DID NOT
AFFECT ME ON 0.25 and any user who upgrades to 0.27 who is NOT ok with
messing about under the hood of their mysql database could run into
prooblems...

maybe it's worth looking into those database schema changes a little
more?

  cannot expire recordings after upgrade to 0.27

Bug description:
  Noticed my hard drive is filling up - even after I "delete" a
  recording in MythTV no new space is created.

  Looked in the Information Centre and noticed NO new autoexpire jobs
  have deleted any programs since the day I upgraded to 0.27

  Then I saw this in the log:

  I changed the hostname on this machine from "loungeroom" to "rem"
  maybe a year or so ago but the hostname is NOT explicitly defined in
  ANY settings (that I have been able to find anywhere?) for mythbackend
  nor mythfrontend

  it would seem somehow this is now having some sort of an effect on
  "mythcorecontext.cpp" - since the upgrade on the 20th of last month. I
  have tried adding "loungeroom" as a hostname for the machine in
  /etc/hosts but that does not help...

  I am fast running out of hard drive space!

  (btw is there some command I need to run to manually clear the backlog
  of programs which need to be deleted?)
