[Bug 609248] Re: package mythtv-database 0.24.0~trunk25409-0ubuntu0~mythbuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

We really do appreciate you opening this ticket to help improve
Mythbuntu, but it needs to be closed for a number of reasons. The
biggest one is that upstream believes this to be fixed in the latest
version. Could you please verify if this issue still exists in the
latest version?

Please do not let the closing of this ticket dissuade you from opening a
new ticket if this (or any other) problem occurs with the newer
versions.

Title:
  package mythtv-database 0.24.0~trunk25409-0ubuntu0~mythbuntu1 failed
to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script
  returned error exit status 1

Status in Mythbuntu, Ubuntu derivative focused upon MythTV:
  Won't Fix

Bug description:
  Sequence of events:
Yesterday I installed a bunch of updates for MythTV. After which I ran mythbackendsetup which usually takes care of any database issues. I used mythweb and it was working, and watched a recording with myth front end.
At the end of the day I logged out, and mythbackend being idle shut my system down.
My system is configured to automatically wake a 3:00 AM and run a script (This script currently does nothing, eventually this script is intended to backup my system to a network drive, but that is not yet implemented), and then shut down.

This morning my computer was on and running. I figured that it was recording something, so I logged in, brought up a browser and went to mythweb. I got a blank screen with "mythweb" written twice in the upper left corner.
I tried running myth front end. It came up full screen with a different theme asking for the language to use. I selected english, and then it started asking about the database. At this point I figured something was seriously screwed up, so I hit esc a few times to exit out and rebooted my computer.

After the reboot, the behavior was the same, but I noticed a new
version of mythTV was available, so I updated to that. As part of the
update, it brought up a window to set up the database (which it should
not have done as the database was already set up) It was giving a
username I had never seen before, and clicking help suggested using
"root" I changed the user name to "root" and clicked "forward".
Nothing happened. Clicking forward many times did nothing. There were
no other buttons to click, attempting to kill the task did not work,
  so I rebooted.

After the reboot I attempted to run mythbackendsetup, I was again
presented with a full screen page asking for language. The next page
was selecting the database. This one was using the correct username &
password, so I clicked next, It claimed that it could not log in, and
dumped me back at the same page. After a few repeats of this, I hit
esc to exit out. At this point the crash indicator appeared, and I
  reported the bug.
