Message #14144
[Bug 1593931] [NEW] MythTV Search Far Too Slow With Large Collection
Public bug reported:
I'm 51, have played in bands since I was 15, and, thanks to recording
nearly every rehearsal, nearly every gig, and ripping all my CDs etc. I
have built up a *HUGE* music collection of over 40,000 tracks !
When I go to the "Search" page in Myth music this causes me a problem as
the "real time" nature of the search means the search facility is
currently unusable.
The problem is that the search is attempting to update the list of
results as each key is pressed and, due to the number of tracks
available, this is *totally* unresponsive. There is a lag of anything
up to about 3 minutes between pressing a key and getting the key echoed
back to the text box and the list updated. e.g. If I want to search for
"Section 25" (one of the bands I played in) then after pressing the "S"
key the box locks up for over 3 minutes before I can press the "e" key.
I would therefore like to ask that the search screen is amended so that
there is a checkbox which toggles "real time" search on or off (default
can be "on") and a button which will initiate the search. The checkbox
could appear to the left of the "search in" drop down and the "search
now" (or whatever text is thought suitable) button could appear to the
right of the "search" text box.
Unfortunately this lag means that the search facility is currently
unusable with my collection and, as I'm playing in 4 bands at the moment
I'm only going to be adding more tracks to my collection :)
Cheers.
