[Bug 289539] Re: DC++ consumes too much CPU resources
It happens to me too. I'm using the latest version: 0.791 Stable. It's constantly using 20%+ CPU even when there's no transfer (in or out) and no indexing is in progress.
The transfer rate is limited through DC++ at 3 Mb/s.
The system configuration is almost identical with the one in the bug report: XP Pro SP3 32bit (up to date), AthlonXP 3200+ on an Asus nForce2 Ultra 400 (A7N8X), 2 Gb DDR400 RAM, ATi Radeon 3850 AGP. The motherboard has an integrated LAN adapter, but it's disabled. I'm using a PCI card instead: SURECOM EP-320X-R 100/10/M PCI Adapter.
The network configuration is as follows: the ISP has provided a PPPOE connection and I use a Linksys WRT54GL (wireless) router that shares that connection with the LAN (and it works brilliantly: downloads and uploads of up to 5 Mbytes/second).
DC++ uses UPnP to get ports to connect to the hubs.
One particularity of the CPU (compared with similar Pentium 4 3GHz) is
that is doesn't have SSE2, it only has SSE1 (I don't know if it is
related with the problem).
The system is running normally otherwise (programming, playing, browsing
the internet).

Title:
DC++ consumes too much CPU resources
Status in DC++:
Expired
Bug description:
I'm suffering this issue since ages, but every new version makes DC++
even more hungry for my CPU.
Currently using: 0.708, XP Pro SP3 32bit, AthlonXP 3200+ on an Asus
nForce2 Ultra 400.
I have Task Manager always running and i see that issue frecuently,
but i don't know why.
I used to run Process Explorer and suspend the most CPU-consuming
thread. Most of times were uploading threads, so one UL got frozen
when i suspended it. Some times it was caused by an updating thread,
so if i suspended that, the connections tab was frozen. Anyway, i
could always restart DC++ if it decided to not respond me. But i had
to deal with that issue a few times on older 0.6xx versions.
0.7xx versions seems to boost that strange behaviour (several times
per day), so i don't know what to do cause i don't want to restart
DC++ everytime i see that.
I insist most of times it's related to uploading thread, and if you
cut that upload manually (<DEL> key makes the job) then CPU is again
in normal usage percent. I don't know if it's only related to you and
the user you're uploading cause it seems to appear with certain users.
This issue is confirmed with a friend with a very similar
board/processor, but he's using 0.674 cause he hates new DC++.
