I also have the same problem. I do not want to upgrade the version since
newer ones will not work with lower versions. In order to correct the
problem, all users in the rooms would have to upgrade. Then you get into
the whole compatibility problem with operating systems.

  When I open a user file list the list will load up but then DC++ 0.674
  crashes. I have tried to load different user file list but I still get
  the crashes. Now  it just crashed without me doing anything
