Introduction and a few questions

Hi everyone,

It looks like my original message was not distributed to the list correctly,
so I thought I'd try it again.

Thanks,

Hi everyone,

My name is James (neutrix on the forums & IRC) and I am also fairly new to
packaging .deb files, but I have been learning a lot in the last few days
and I am eager to learn more. I have been programming for 9 years now, so I
have a fairly good understanding of the majority of the main languages and
compiling from source.

I did have a couple of questions about the project though. When choosing
what to package, is it going to be a free for all or are we going to be
assigned projects to keep up to date, for example someone keeps an eye on
wine and packages it as needed, someone keeps an eye on python etc? Do we
have any method in place to keep an eye on the quality of packages? Also, is
there a prefered way of packaging or is it ok to use any method we are happy
with (checkinstall, dh_make etc)?

Thanks,

- James
