Message #00009
work in progress
Hi everyone!
It's been really quiet in our project (or maybe for some reason I don't
get emails). Anyway, I have something I would like to share with you guys.
Some time ago we talked about where to start and said the installation
process would be the right place. Since I've just finished a course in
interactive multimedia I'd like to share with you my final project in
that course. You can view it at: rootkowski.com/exercises/flash/mpa
<http://rootkowski.com/exercises/flash/mpa/>
Even though it's been turned in, it's still much of a work in progress.
At this point I would like others to get involved. There is a number of
things that should/could be fixed and I'm sure together we can come up
with many more improvements.
One of the first issues you'll probably notice is the Help files. I
wrote them "just so there would be something", but this part should be
treated much more seriously. Help needed! :-)
Now you also might think (and you'd be right) that my project is not
exactly a screencast. This project is to include screencasts. What about
a short video to each installation step?
Would it be an improvement to have audio help instead of text based?
How could we improve the user interface?
The partitioning could be improved a lot. Any ideas on how?
Is there a way to get all data used in the original installation app
(like keyboard layouts, time zones, etc.) so that it could be
implemented in the project? Or should we just stick to a few example
languages, layouts and time zones?
Lots of my questions might not make any sense to you before you viewed
the project. So go ahead and see it and then let me and others in the
project know what you think.
Enjoy you Easter holidays! Cheers
/rootkowski
PS: a bit about the technical side of this project: it's made in flash
and build on modules, the help is based on external simple txt files. If
there's anything more you'd like to know just ask :-)
