Hi Harry,

As promised, here are a couple of suggestions to Lubuntu's Wiki. Keep in mind this suggestions came out of the idea your proposed me: Try to present Lubuntu to Windows users. I don't know the goal you guys wish to achieve with both of the websites.

Well, first of all, I'd like to add that people will not look for Rafael's blog unless it is mentioned somewhere. So, if his blog is important to find information of Lubuntu, then it seems wise to include that somewhere. It is posted in the Wiki (I looked for that with more attention).
The Wiki should contain more screenshots of its applications running, so that people can have a feeling about how it may look like. Something like the website has. On the other hand, it could be interesting adding a small text mentioning that you can run other Linux applications, like Libre Office as an alternative to those pre-installed. I believe you guys tried to mention that by saying the Lubuntu uses the same repositories as Ubuntu, right? If that's so, it should be added to both the Wiki and the Website.

Specific suggestions:
lubuntu.net - even though I don't know if you can change anything in here.
I like the configuration and look of the website. It can summarize what Lubuntu is all about in the first paragraphs too.
I'd only suggest to put "What is Lubuntu" in the top of the page or remove/rename that part. I don't find it fluent to have some information in the top and then start over with "What is Lubuntu".
The rest of the homepage seems fine. I don't think we should go directly into comparisons in here. Perhaps we can save that to the Wiki.

lubuntu's wiki
If our aim is to attract users from Windows computers, then having a section that could compare Windows and Lubuntu would be a great addition to the Ubuntu vs Lubuntu part. Something that could show alternatives to the most common usages of a windows computer, mainly programs and software, like: Office > Word Processor, Gnumeric and this and that.
It is also important to make clear that even though Lubuntu is a lightweight system, it can run every program Linux has available - Either via Repository or other source.

The rest of the texts are great, in a sense they are clear and enough to provide the right information. If someone coming out of Windows wants to compare Windows to Lubuntu, one will need a direct comparison to Lubuntu.
Please let me know your thoughts about my feedback to Lubuntu's website. I wish to give more regular contributes like this if that's somehow possible.

Hey Gustavo,

first I'd like to thank you for your honesty! Because that's what I do expect from my padawans ;) So this being said I can assure you that you won't be excluded!

I gave you this particular challenge to asses your willingness and your abilities. From what I saw in the presentation gives me an impression on how make your efforts valuable the best possible way for the team.

Regarding that presentation you sent: I'd hoped you would find our lubuntublog by rafaellaguna (lubuntublog.blogspot.com) where you could "steal" lubuntublog.blogspot.com/about with pictures from https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu/Marketing ;)

But never mind. Consider this challenge done.

Since you mentioned that our wiki is not the best I'd like to hear from you what you - as an average user - would like to change. Maybe this will be easier for you to accomplish.

Regards,
Silver

Hi silverlion,

I have been trying to gather all possible information to finish the task you proposed me to accomplish earlier.
However, or I suck completely seeking for information, or something is wrong in Lubuntu's wiki since it is not that explicitly as you mentioned. On the other hand, Phillip has once confessed me that one current and frequent problem within the Ubuntu's communities is that information and websites are done by the same people that develop it and sometimes it does not look easy, simple and readable as one would wish.
I am aware I don't know you in a sense of I don't know your background history, but I do know that you are cooperative in these areas of Ubuntu and mainly Lubuntu. That happened for some reason and I doubt it isn't because you're capable of doing such thing.

With that said, it has been really difficult to gather information and screenshots in specific, to do something prettier and I am not willing to make a fresh install of Lubuntu right now to test things by myself, take prints, make conclusions and what-not, since there are a dozen things between my hands that need a lot of participation. Creating a VM was a possibility, but I don't find this useful for me in the future, since I don't need (nor want) to use virtual machines.

Though I could make you wait a lot of time before sending/updating you on this, I don't feel that would being honest with you and I don't think that would fit me as well. So, to summarize, you can exclude me as your padawan if you feel so, I am just asking for another challenge and/or something more achievable.
On the other hand, I think this is a great opportunity to tell you that the Lubuntu wiki does not work in favor of the this distribution, since it is not clear in several ways. And this is someone who is not a power user nor a technical guy. Besides, I have been here for a while and have faced several wikis. I admit however, most of them suffer from this problem.

Please give me your feedback on this when you get some time. My expectations by working with you was to help you preparing things and making stuff more clear to others. I admit I never thought this presentation would help us both to understand that, but I trust your judgement. Marketing and communicating something to the world with a budget reduced to 0 is a tough challenge, as so it is with leading and inspiring others to develop distributions and apps. This was something that I was expecting to learn with someone who has been around for years (probably).

The presentation attached is without any print screens. It only includes the main features of Lubuntu, without comparing it with Windows or introducing the respective open source alternatives. Oh, and it doesn't include any sort of "pitch" to attract others.
