You need to add gettext support, and probably autotools or distutils
support.
You could have a look at :

Once it's done, you can enable translations in Launchpad, and it will be
easy to add a debian package (I'll happily do it for you :)) and daily
builds on Launchpad. I can have a look at it if you want, but if you
want to maintain it in the future, maybe it's better you try to do it
first :)
