We did. But using xcompmgr is complicated and can fail. There's a big problem using some apps with it. Try to drag an icon from a window to the desktop and you'll see the flickering. If you do this too many times the Openbox will crash. This is a xcompmgr bug, and its development seems to be stopped. And for using a composite manager we need a nice front-end for configuring it. It's very difficult for newcomers open a terminal and type commands. This is "too geek" :) Cheers!
