Fwd: Alpha One Iso Testing Needs

Hi guys,

a call to arms (again). I've just hot footed it from the QA meeting [1]
Whilst there I asked if we may have the link to see what is causing
triggers for respins in order to test that the bug(s) being addressed are
indeed fixed [2]. I'm sure that I don't need to remind you that that area
is "Look but do NOT touch" and is granted because you're such a great team:)

Regards,

Phill.

Greetings everyone! Whew! Big day we had yesterday, with lots of bugs
uncovered by everyone. Currently we're rebuilding all the images, so look
for some fixes to land within the next hour. The following bugs have been
found by everyone and were of a critical enough nature to cause a respin:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-base/+bug/1006717
Launchpad bug 1006717 in The Eilt project "[MIR] linux-base" [High,New]

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1008898
Launchpad bug 1008898 in ubiquity (Ubuntu Quantal) "crash after inserting
wireless password" [High,Fix released]

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1008905
Launchpad bug 1008905 in linux (Ubuntu Quantal) "Quantal Desktop AMD64+Mac
on MacMini: BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at
00000000000000a0" [High,Fix released]

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/isc-dhcp/+bug/1006937
Launchpad bug 1006937 in isc-dhcp (Ubuntu) "dhclient does not send hostname
to dhcp-server" [Undecided,Fix released]

What this means for us now is we need folks to test the fix for Mac's;
specifically with the b43 wireless driver. In addition of course, we need
to sync the new images as they come in and make sure we've caught all the
crazy bugs and release stoppers in readiness for tomorrow. Thanks again to
all of you who are helping to test. This is the big finish and if you
haven't yet had a chance to help test, when the new images arrive in the
hour, it would be an excellent time to do so and contribute. As always,
hang out in the #ubuntu-testing channel for any real-time questions or
needs you may encounter.

Thanks!

Nicholas
