Then I started messing with my G4 and found something that might help "not exactly" nomodeset but it got me to a clean desktop and I am now installing a full hardware install of the 20120905.1 powerpc. I waited until plymouth starts rolling the dots and hit CTRL-Apple button-t and that slides you into the logging text. Then I just set back and waited until the clean desktop session started and now I am waiting on the install to finish.. So far so good.. I am going to try to duplicate it with a side-by-side and manual install if I can stay awake long enough. Not sure that will work for everyone but it got me there. Greg nm_geo
