Subject: [Bug 1080790] [NEW] PowerPC Lubuntu 12.10 - Alsamixer Mute button
won't un-mute
To: phillw@xxxxxxxxxx
Public bug reported:
Hardware: iMac G3 600MHz SE
OS Version: Lubuntu 12.10
Alsamixer version 1.0.25
The Alsamixer program as run in the terminal has two key volume controls
with relation to getting sound working. Master and Speaker. With a
default install of Lubuntu, both Master and Speaker are marked as "OO"
or "00" meaning on, I suppose.
The problem is when using the Mute checkbox in the Lubuntu desktop, it
mutes both the Master and Speaker. When un-checking the mute box, no
sound returns. If you quit alsamixer in the terminal and start it
again, you will see that the Master is unmuted and back to "OO" however
the speaker is still muted as marked by "MM"
So either make the Lubuntu Mute button trigger only the Master, or make
it remember to enable the Speaker as well as the Master when un-muting.
The temporary fix for people who used the GUI Mute button is to unmute,
and then go into the terminal, type "alsamixer" and then use the M key
to directly unmute the item called Speaker.
** Affects: lubuntu-meta (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
