I think if you enable proposed there are newer kernels than 3.13-0-16. I
currently have 3.13-0-18 as an upgrade that came in yesterday? If you boot
on an older kernel are you not getting updates to see if newer versions fix
it?

I also have the firefox working after an apt-get update and dist-upgrade.
