Re: this page needs some love
Hi Karl,
There is a simple logic behind Chris's reasoning, when 12.04 is released
the wiki team have to update various pages. The fewer of these requiring
updates the better. It also ensures we do not have pages that contain out
dated information. Chris has spent a heck of a lot of time ensuring that
lubuntu wiki pages are all "singing from the same hymn sheet". It really is
not my domain now. He is the coordinator for that group. Once you realise
that keeping wiki pages all upto date you will also realise that anyhting
that can be done to reduce duplication is REALLY important. There are many,
many wiki pages across *buntu that are out of date. As a part of lubuntu
getting approval, we were checked that our wiki area was up to date. We
passed, but were spread accross many pages of duplicates. Every page
written and edited should be made release version independant.
One of the up coming jobs is that of splitting
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Lubuntu/Documentation/FAQ/Guides which is
now against "best working practices" and needs one page per topic instead
of a very long page.
Karl, the thing about wiki, and more importantly about the wiki editors &
admins, is that this team has a coordinator who is 100% commited to
ensuring that lubuntu are the 'gold standard' to which other teams can
aspire to. Just as our qa team have been asked to help on *buntu testing.
Small in number we may be, able & commited we are. We get all that help and
assistance back, Lubuntu and any *buntu are more than a team.... we are a
family.
Regards,
Phill.
