A very quick reply to say thank you for your response and to let you know that the mass.ubuntu.com support pages, at first glance, seem far superior to how they use to be. I am sure I will have far greater success in attempting to install maas, this time around.

Hello Arbit,

 

You are correct, MAAS requires the use of a DHCP server so that it can PXE boot the nodes. If you cannot have a new DHCP server or configure an existing one then you cannot use MAAS.
