It would be helpful if you would state the you have done testing and the
results of those tests when you file a bug report. The more information
the better.

Can you see if hal-applesmc shows? I believe that is one of the packages
that is not in the standard repos already. It would also be good if you
tried other tools besides synaptic (apt-get or aptitude).

For everyone else's information... It appears that the dkms packages are
only marked as being for i386. I believe these are all uploads by
rydberg. Can you check if they can somehow be marked as being for i386
and amd64?

I recently installed Hardy x64 on my Macbook Pro. I added the mactel ppa repository and even so, I don't see any mactel packages in Synaptics.
