It appears the issue is Hardy, not X86-64. A quick look at the PPA shows
that packages were only built for Intrepid.

Bug description:
I recently installed Hardy x64 on my Macbook Pro. I added the mactel ppa repository and even so, I don't see any mactel packages in Synaptics.
