Any progress on this one? It is still an issue in linux 2.6.39.4, 3.0.3
and 3.1rc2 (I think this should be an issue with any newer kernel since
the function got deprecated?)

  hid-dkms fails to install with kernel 2.6.39-rc3. Below is the the
  make log, it seems like there are two functions that no longer exists
  in this new kernel.
